It’s Strawberry Ice Cream Day!

Mid-January. Dreary. Chilly.  Snowy?
Dreaming of spring and summer sunshine…or maybe for the lucky…already dallying resort-side or at a spa.  Dreaming of…creamy fresh made ice cream.  
Guess what? Today is Strawberry Ice Cream Day.
The Menu Shoppe has it covered.  Fresh-made recipes.  Best gourmet crafts. Maybe craft a special ice cream menu…floats and sundaes…or creamy dreamy cocktails. Or an LED Board to post specials.

Try some fresh made from your own kitchen…
Fresh-made Strawberry Ice Cream
1 quart fresh strawberries, hulled
1 1/2 cups heavy cream, divided
3/4 cup white sugar
3 egg yolks
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
Place the berries into the container of a blender or food processor, and puree until smooth. Pour into a large bowl, and set aside.  Heat 1 1/4 cups of the cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it begins to bubble at the edge of the pan. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, egg yolks, remaining 1/4 cup cream, and corn syrup. Gradually pour the hot cream into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly. Return the mixture to the saucepan, and heat until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a metal spoon, about 5 minutes. Do not allow the mixture to boil.  Strain custard into the berry puree through a sieve, mix, and refrigerate until chilled. Fill an ice cream maker with the mixture, and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Strawberry Cloud
30 mls Grand Marnier
15 mls Kahlua
15 mls Irish Cream
30 mls orange juice
4 strawberries
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Enjoy
…and then there’s the  newish Qream Liqueur….that seems a strawberry ice cream dream
Strawberry Bikini
1 1/2 oz Strawberry Qream™
1/4 oz Ciroc Coconut
Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker and stir well.  Pour into a martini glass. Trim with a blossom.
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
3 1/2 oz Strawberry Qream™
1/2 oz Godiva Chocolate Vodka
cocoa powder ( optional )
strawberry for trim ( optional )
Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker.  Stir well.  Pour into a cocoa-powder rimmed martini glass.
