Here’s a few creative ideas—only from the Menu Shoppe—we have it covered and always on the prowl to uncover new finds.
This variation…from us at the Menu Shoppe.
Slice and finely dice some leftover turkey.
Melt some cream cheese. Stir in diced turkey.
Add a tbsp of your favorite dip. Warm. Serve over corn bread or other rustic loaf. Makes a savory small plate offering.
Another great small plate snack…
- 3/4 ounce dried porcini mushrooms
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 4 1/2 cups leftover bread stuffing
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter 11x7x2-inch glass baking dish. Working in batches, finely grind porcini in spice grinder. Whisk milk and next 3 ingredients in large bowl. Stir in stuffing and ground porcini, breaking up any clumps. Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish. Sprinkle cheese over stuffing mixture. Bake until puffed in center and cheese is brown in spots, about 45 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley and serve. Drizzle some bleu cheese dressing? Swizzle some chardonnay.

Why not prepare this nifty salad snack to have readied upon returning from the shopping exodus.
Twenty-Four Hour Salad
- 6 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup frozen green peas, thawed and drained
- 1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 (3 ounce) can bacon bits
In a large transparent bowl, layer lettuce, celery, bell peppers, onions, peas, mayonaise, sugar and cheese. Sprinkle bacon bits over the
top of the salad. Cover bowl, refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.
Serve with left over rolls, bruschetta, or crackers.
