Ubiquitous. Isn’t that what candy corn is to Halloween.
While October 30th is proclaimed as National Candy Corn Day.
In honor of the seasonal sweet kernel — a few recipes.
Candy Corn Popcorn Balls
- 1/4 cup butter
- 10 1/2 ounces mini-marshmallows
- 3 ounces gelatin ( or flavored jello)
- 12 cups pop corn
- 1 cup candy corn
Melt butter, marshmallows, stir in gelatin. Pour mixture over popcorn, add the candy corn and mix until well coated. Shape into 15 balls with buttered hands. ( yep buttery hands )
Wrap each ball in plastic wrap–until your goblins gobble gobble.
Candy Corn Cordial
A festive sweet treat requiring a little effort to soak the candy corn or otherwise infuse the vodka.
Combine the candy corn and vodka in an airtight container. Marinate at least 3 hours.
for the infused vodka
- 1/2 cup candy corn
- 1 1/2 cups vodka
for the cordials
- 2 ounces orange liqueur
- 1/2 lemon – juiced
- 1 large egg white
- candy corn to dress
To assemble the cordials: Add 4 ounces of the candy corn vodka, the orange liqueur, lemon juice and egg white to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. Pour into 2 chilled martini glasses and embellish with a few candy corn kernels.
